The International Museum of Women:

This is a must visit. The current exhibit explores the maternal experience of women around the world. Since the Museum is online, it’s open 24/7!

Dress Memory is a beautiful collection of stories, and images, complete with woven memories. The sister of a friend from high school has collected and collated parts of her wardrobe that hold memories into beautiful shared sartorial memories. Take a look! 

I am completely fascinated by how people are taking an audio medium and using space in the sound recording to ask commenters to repsond- thereby creating a dynamic interactive place for community. In this particular example, it’s an English teacher … check it out!

My darling daughter has a love for a certain kind of sound….  this is where her love and my love meet. We both just discovered the Head and the Heart

Here’s the amount for some to keep and some to give away!

My Great Grandmother’s Shortbread.

2 cups of softened butter

1 cup of powdered sugar

1 cup of cornflour

4 cups of flour

A pinch of salt

Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix. It will end up soft, and maybe slightly crumbly in texture.

Press the mixture out into a pan, thickness of shortbread is up to you.

Bake for 30-40 minutes at 350F, or until golden brown. Keep a very close eye on the shortbread, especially toward the end of baking, as it can burn very easily!

My good friend and neighbor Jim introduced me to Girl Talk, and all summer long I ran to “All Day”- an eclectic mashed up mix that was perfect for my newbie running cadence. However, it kind of made me dance a little with my running…. it’s been so much fun to keep up with this ongoing release of Girl Walk, it’s what I imagine I am doing when I am running…. dancing like this:

I am making an attempt to explore my relationship to winter a little further.

After having grown up in sunny sub-tropical Queensland, Australia… and now living in the Midwest of the USA, this time of year is harder on my system than I often care to admit.

I don’t relish the dark and cold.

My body doesn’t do cold well.

Perhaps with a project like this in my hands this winter, I could make an exploration of the weather, and wear a season… the winter of 2011/2012.
